Coffee, while enjoyed worldwide as a daily ritual, is inherently a carbon-intensive product. From the journey of the bean to the cup, every stage—processing, logistics, roasting, and brewing—contributes to carbon emissions. Recognizing this environmental impact, Tanamera is taking active steps to become more responsible and accountable for the footprint left behind by our operations.
In line with this commitment, we have partnered with Bumiterra, an organization dedicated to ecological restoration and community empowerment. Through this collaboration, we aim to reduce and offset our emissions while contributing to broader environmental sustainability efforts. Our current focus is a 2-hectare reforestation project in Kalimantan, a region that has experienced significant deforestation over the years.
This project is more than just planting trees. It is about reviving biodiversity, improving soil health, and creating a long-term carbon sink that will benefit both the planet and the people. By restoring degraded land with native species, we contribute to a healthier ecosystem that supports wildlife, regulates water cycles, and strengthens resilience against climate change.
Equally important is the social impact of this initiative. Together with Bumiterra, we are empowering local villagers by involving them directly in the project. From tree planting to ongoing forest management, the community plays an active role, ensuring that the project is not only environmentally sustainable but also economically beneficial. Through this collaboration, we help create alternative sources of income, foster environmental education, and inspire a sense of ownership and pride in protecting natural resources.
Tanamera believes that sustainability should not end with producing great coffee—it should extend to protecting the environment and uplifting the communities connected to it. Our reforestation project with Bumiterra marks the beginning of a longer journey toward responsible coffee production, where every cup served carries with it a story of regeneration, responsibility, and hope for a greener future.
